Core Theory #1
My theory starts form the stand point that this show is about duality, among other things of course. But we can all find things that can be defined in this show by one thing or another. Black/white, science/faith, love/hate, kate/juliette whatever you can go on and on.
the most important thing about this unending battle is not who wins, but it's that the battle at a fundamental level exists. So balance is and always will be the rule, which will leave us ultimately in ambiguity, about the ending. We will be split at the end about the "Ultimate" meaning of what they present to us. which is what their goal is.
So in laying that out, I have been putting my theory together from a standpoint of doing my best to make assumptions based on fundamental facts, and not worry about what that would mean to the losties and their individual happy endings. In other words theorize based on science and faith definaitions, and then apply that to the losties and their world. Hope I haven't lost ya yet.. theory starts here..
Ok Lets go back to the "Incident" episodes. Juliette blows the H-Bomb, and Jacob get's "Kenny'd" I believe that at that moment we are shown a single event form two different angles, or points of view.
The reason is, I define MIB as Dark Matter, or better yet the personification of dark matter. I'm sure most of you would agree with that, or some level of that. There is a reason that Dharma was there and it's because Dharma is DARMA is Dark Matter. So we pretty much can deduce that the island is "Border station" between Dark and light matter-(don't have a better term.) MIB and Jacob are the personification of this same thing.
So back to the "Incedent"- In the same moment that we see Jacob being stabbed we are also shown Juliette blow the bomb. And at that moment the "Alt" is created.
I think this is the writers creating a tangible physical personification of the expansion of the uiniverse.
Dark matter was instantly released into our side and in doing so our universe expanded, which was and is represented in the alt.
I submit that, if the alt was not created than it would have in fact been the end of it all. But why should life be given a chance, when it always ends the same, we lie, we kill..,
We should be given a chance because down at our worst possible moment we will choose love over hate. Instead of killing Jacob over not killing Jacob.
1. the island is the cork.
2. It was popped. (Jacob/Jughead)
3. but in that moment we now have a new bottle because we have a new alt.
4. we have a new cork. (submerged)
5. But we need to have the ultimate question answered first. Love or Hate.
6. If love- we have a new Jacob and the island emerges in the alt. and all those who chose well will live on with a new sense of fulfillment with the knowledge of everything that they had done. and the to have the lives they had dreamt of with those they love the most.
7. The candidate must deserve the role as Jacob by correctly answering a fundamental question of love over hate and the enigma of sacrifice.
8. I don't think it is lost on the writers that sacrificing ones self on the island with the knowledge that there is another state of being, isn't an obvious reflection of various after-life beliefs. And it shouldn't be lost on us either.
My pick for an outstanding Candidate:
Sayid
Why: In my radical opinion the only way for the candidate to succeed is to remove the threat of death. Any one on the island can kill each other. Last man standing kind of thing. and who better to pull of another beach karate session with a new version of Richard in the future?
But ultimately I haven't a clue who.
