There are three characters that I get confused: Richard, Tom, and " Mr. Friendly". Could somebody clear this up for me? A timeline would be good, like first appearance, dead or alive (or somewhere in between), and how the characters figured in with the plot.

Star-crossed lovers

Someone just posted a blog about "father" issues, and that was a real good observation. Something else has been on my mind. Did anyone notice that there is a theme with "star-crossed lovers, as in Romeo and Juliet? The biggest one is the Desmond/Penny romance, which even extends over time and space. Then there is the Jack/Sawyer/ Kate triangle. And the Juliet/Ben/ Jack triangle. And, of course, Ben saying "Juliet you are mine". And Ben lost a love that Juliet reminds him of. Hurley finally...

I don't know if this was ever discussed, so I'm throwing it out there. Two songs have been played sung by Mamma Cass. She is DEAD. When Michael was going to kill himself in the car, the song playing was "Getting Better Every Day". I thought that this was very ironic, due to the fact that he is commiting suicide. Could the lyric be symbolic? He is not to die, but things will get better, and he will progress toward his destiny of redeeming himself. Also, the guilt he feels that is driving him...
