I'm guessing it has something to do with the fact that they did not 'replicate' the circumstances of the crash exactly (Ben was on the flight this time, etc.). I remember Eloise saying that they had to try to replicate their flight circumstances as closely as they could.

Hi everyone! This has been the most enlighting hour I have spent since beginning to watch lost. It seems to tie up so many of the loopholes that I have been struggling with. I hope that most of it is true, but I feel that the writers will have some more fun with us before it is over.
