WOW DD that is a freaky story!! I'm soo sorry that happened to you!

I've never in my life experienced anything like that and for the longest time (even still) find it hard to believe that stuff HOWEVER I have a small story that I strongly believe to be true:

My neighbor, who is a devout Christian (same as me) and who would NEVER lie to me EVER, told us a story about when she and her sister were playing with a ouija board when they were younger. She (like me at the time) did not believe that stuff to be true and just went along with were doing it. Anyway, they asked a series of questions (not sure what they were exactly) but she said the candle started flickering and there was no wind, also they heard pounding on the upstairs floor and they were home alone. She said they started crying so hard and threw the ouija board into the fire place and NO LIE, she heard screams come out. I've never forgotten that story and because it came from such a credible person I've believed it.

One of the problems we skeptics have is that, just like in this thread, the same strange stuff keeps happening to the same people, seemingly no matter where they go.

For instance, the story above by DD (I am not picking on you, just using it as an example because it's right there) shows how these strange occurences keep happening even though there were 3 different houses involved. This really lends creedence to the "overactive imagination" crowd, because even believers would usally agree that these instances are rare to happen to people, yet it just so happens to keep popping up with the same people no matter where they go?

And I would agree with those who think this has really nothing to do with people who've died or the manner in which they died, because at this point I would think most parts of the world has had people die in all sorts of ways. In this way skeptics have a point as well: so many haunting stories follow the same M.O. of happening in a cemetary, or a house where someone was murdered, etc., etc.

Also like Boutte said, I think once you have shown an interest, you attract things to you that you probably don't want to attract. I've also heard that some people's energies attract entities more than others. I'm not sure why or how these things happen but I KNOW they do.

Our first house had tons of activity, maybe something just followed us for a while. I have no idea!!! I have no way to prove it!!

I believe its like in the Simpsons Holloween special. People are more receptive then others and the "Energy" feeds in to the fear. Emotions are very strong and are not just things we feel ourselves. It spreads out and engulfs the area or space in which is the storngest. Amityville horror unfolded cause peoples fears and what ever emotion fed the entity causing the aftermath. In the Simpsons they just go with it and the entity saw no point to it.

That's why Cemetaries are full of it cause there is nothing but sorrow.

I lost my brother when he was only 19, I was 31.. He lived with me and would spend time at my moms for days.. I worked mid nights and slept during the day and my brother would open my bed room door and say my name, to wake me.. Just to ask to borrow the car etc.. After his passing there were many nights/days where i'd hear his voice calling my name in the door way, while i slept.. And i would jump up part scared and part curious to think maybe he really is here... IDK

I would say to this that there are different types of huantings. I am no expert at all and I stay as far away from the super-natural as I can because of my own past experiences and not wanting to "invite" such experiences back into my life. But there are places that are haunted and people that are haunted. Are they ghosts? I do not think so imho. I believe they are spirits, demons, angels, ect. and of course there are the "overactive imagination" folks as well. Am I a believer? You bet your arse I am.

Someone should make a sort of Lost themed set of decorations for their house on Halloween, complete with the whispers.
